Ego, Us
Ego pumps out plots and
Schemes and judgments at a
Prolifically astonishing rate
Polluting the purity of my mind,
Destroying the tranquility of my soul,
Throwing my life askew.
Each convincing lie
Sprouts a new parasitic tentacle
Stretching without end
To choke out buds of connection and
Extract all hope from my breath,
While blinding me to Truth.
I am imprisoned in a cage of disconnection
And inflated self-importance,
A pedestaled prison designed to make me
Separate, Large, Above-All and Right.
As it’s despotic presence grows, I shrink
My good and quiet core no match for its tyranny.
It lords over me, a manipulative, life-sucking,
Self-important bully,
Until I am convinced of our singular oneness.
Campaigns of war are waged against all things
Perceived to threaten Us.
